Considered for a long period of time, the poor neighborhood of Chiado, S. Paulo is now growing and deserves a second chance.

S. Paulo was the typical old bad reputation harbor district, but nowadays, thanks to the “Pink Street” and the Time Out Market, inspired by San Miguel Market in Madrid, the way the people of Lisbon see it is changing. The Bica elevator which drives us to Calçada do Combro, Chiado, in a few seconds, starts at Rua de S. Paulo.

Buildings are degraded but they look like an open air museum for azulejos lovers. The renovation of the post office quarter, where restaurants and shops will be opened, is an other good point for the neighborhood.

It’s maybe one of the best areas to invest now, because the sqm price is quite affordable if we compare to Chiado. By the river, very accessible, with huge potential of reconstruction and the proximity to universities as IADE, S. Paulo seems to be a good bet. EDP is building new offices there which will bring for sure renting search. Hotel businesses could also be interesting, in fact, the nightlife is at its top and young tourists would love to stay in this central neighborhood.
