Avenida da Liberdade

“Liberty” is a meaningful name for the ex-libris avenue of the Portuguese capital.

The Lisbon 5th Avenue loved by all the lisbonners, designed and rebuilt by the Marques de Pombal, the prime minister responsible for the rebuilding of Lisbon following the Great Earthquake in 1755. It has fountains and cafe tables shaded by trees, as well as a pavement decorated with beautiful patterns.  Some of the original mansions have been preserved, and many are outstanding from an architectural standpoint The avenue is also the site of the city's grander hotels, banks, airline offices, and designer shops, on its way to Restauradores, including names like Cartier, Prada and Miu-Miu. The arrival of Galleries Lafayette will complete its glamourous status who judging by the quantity of 5* hotels is better than ever. Avenida and the streets around by Castilho District are a kind of "golden triangle" of Lisbon.

In fact, Avenida da Liberdade is an ex-libris but it is also a way of life, of Lisbon’s life. Magnificent buildings are being refurbished keeping the ancient façade and mixing it with modern facilities, expensive of course, but quickly sold.

The sqm price can reach 9000€, expensive for Lisbon but not so much if we compare Avenida da Liberdade with Regent Street, Champs Elysées or even Castellana, the dream seems to be able to come true.
